Downtown Corpus Christi Water Tower Mural Request for Proposal

The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District is requesting qualifications and proposals for an update to the mural on the SEA District water tower at the corner of Mesquite St. and Brewster St. in Downtown Corpus Christi. We are looking for a mural that is highly original, gives a strong sense of place, and has a timeless quality.

Criteria for Mural Theme:

• MUST incorporate the words “Corpus Christi” in the mural
• “Corpus Christi” must be placed in a strategic manner that maximizes visibility and photo opportunities
• Coastal theme (ex: florals, greenery, water elements, natural resources) 
• Vibrant, light, & active mural (dark colors and black must be kept to a minimum)

Submissions must be emailed to Alexis Hill, alexis@cctexasdmd.com by 5 PM on May 28, 2021. 

1.Eligibility

Corpus Christi professional artists or artist-led teams are eligible to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must have successfully managed and completed at least one similar commission project with a budget equal to or greater than $10,000. Artists must have previously created large-scale exterior public art projects; carry personal liability insurance for the duration of the project; be willing to meet all contractual obligations and adhere to a strict timeline.

2. Submission of Proposals

All information must be submitted as one (1) complete application to alexis@cctexasdmd.com with the subject line “SEA District Water Tower Mural Proposal – APPLICANT NAME.” All responses must be submitted via email.
