Corpus Christi, Texas – The Port of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (DMD), will kick-off the 2021 Holiday season with the Port of Corpus Christi Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 5 at 6:30 pm.

Before lighting up the Holiday Tree, the ceremony will feature guest speakers, including Mayor Paulette Guajardo, Port of Corpus Christi Director of

Community Relations Rosaura Bailey, and DMD Executive Director Alyssa Barrera Mason. This will be the second consecutive year the tree will be on display in La Retama Park.

The 18-foot Holiday Tree will be decorated with almost 700 lights and 250 ornaments. In addition, the tree will feature a hanging ornament sky.

Corpus Christi locals and tourists will be able to visit the Holiday Tree beginning November 5 through January 7. This extended display period will allow local families and photographers to capture memorable holiday photos.

“The Port of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District have collaborated for over a decade to further revitalize our city’s downtown area,” said Sean Strawbridge, Chief Executive Officer for the Port of Corpus Christi. “With the extraordinary events of the last year, coming together in fellowship at an event such as the tree lighting ceremony is a welcome opportunity for our families, friends and the entire community to show our unity in spirit for Corpus Christi.”

“We are thankful for our continued partnership with the Port of Corpus Christi that allows us to showcase the Holiday Tree for our community,” said Alyssa Barrera Mason. “Featuring this tree in La Retama park brings a dash of holiday cheer to a park rich in history for our community.”
