Corpus Christi, Texas— H-E-B and the Downtown Management District announced today that it’s time to get your wish list ready because the Christmas decorations are out of the box and we are stringing lights for a virtual Christmas Tree celebration! The traditional lighting of the City’s tree will be live-streamed into the homes of the Coastal Bend during the 2020 Virtual H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting on November 27, 2020, at 6 PM.

This new, socially distant event was announced today at a press conference featuring Mayor Joe McComb, Regina Garcia-Posada of H-E-B, and Alyssa Barrera Mason of the DMD. The event will be live-streamed on the Downtown Corpus Christi Facebook and Instagram accounts.

The iconic 66-foot H-E-B Christmas Tree will be set up for a third year at Waters Edge Park in Downtown Corpus Christi for the enjoyment of residents and tourists alike. This new event is a departure from the traditional lighting that takes place the first weekend of December with the Harbor Lights Festival. The 2020 Virtual H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting in Downtown Corpus Christi will feature live music performances of Clarissa Serna Band and a traditional Mariachi Band. There will be no public in-person attendance.

The H-E-B Christmas Tree is one of many components of the 2020 Merry Days by the Bay in Downtown Corpus Christi.

“This year we’ve expanded to an interactive holiday experience that can be enjoyed by families while social distancing. It is important to us to make sure that there is still cheer throughout Downtown despite the ongoing pandemic. We are grateful that H-E-B felt it was important to bring the lighting into the homes of the Coastal Bend,” said Alyssa Barrera Mason.

The event will be live-streamed on the Downtown Corpus Christi Facebook and Instagram accounts at 6 PM on November 27, 2020. A full overview and map of the holiday displays can be found on www.godowntowncc.com/merry-days-by-the-bay, www.merrydaysbythebay.com, and on Downtown Corpus Christi’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
