Corpus Christi, Texas. – The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District (DMD) released the 2021 State of Downtown Impact Report yesterday via an online video. The report is a comprehensive look at the stories and statistics behind the resiliency of Downtown Corpus Christi throughout 2021.

The report highlights accomplishments and the impact of place-based economic development efforts achieved by the DMD’s four organizational departments.

Highlights from the 2021 State of Downtown Corpus Christi report include:

In District Operations, our eight-person clean team spent 17,000 hours servicing the Marina Arts District.
In Economic Development, we awarded $540,000 to Downtown Businesses and committed $8 million for future development through TIRZ #3.
In Communications & Events, we reached 2.3 million social media users and drew over 100,000 visitors to Downtown events.
In Organizational Management, we successfully recruited five additional team members to help accomplish the DMD’s vision.

None of our 2021 accomplishments could have been made possible without the support of the City of Corpus Christi, our Advisory Council members, Downtown Merchant Association members, and our community.

“We are bullish on the future of Downtown Corpus Christi – and this year’s State of Downtown report supports that attitude,” said Alyssa Barrera Mason. “Through innovation, continued investment, and collaboration, we will continue on this path of creating the most vibrant downtown on the Gulf of Mexico.”
