2021 Holiday Subcommittee Sign Up

The deadline to sign-up for a committee is Tuesday, August 10, 2021. 

Calling all friends and neighbors! We need your help to plan the best and brightest holiday season in our neighborhood. This year, help us bring holiday cheer to Downtown Corpus Christi by participating in one of our five holiday subcommittees! These five subcommittees will help us plan, implement and promote the holiday experience. Each committee is listed below along with the scope and the meeting dates. We hope to see you join in on the holiday fun! 

H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting – Monday Meetings at 4:00pm

The H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting Committee will work collaboratively to plan, execute, and promote the H-E-B Tree Lighting Ceremony held on Friday, November 26, 2021. The installation of the 66-foot tree is a tradition in Downtown Corpus Christi. This committee will work together to plan the annual tree lighting ceremony, where the tree is lit up for the holiday season and will be on display through January 5, 2022. The H-E-B Christmas Tree will be on display in Waters Edge Park for the fourth year in a row.

Mayor’s Battle of the Bulbs – Tuesday Meetings at 4:00pm

The Mayor’s Battle of the Bulbs (BOTB) Committee will work collaboratively to plan, execute, and promote the BOTB competition. Every year, businesses located in Downtown Corpus Christi take on the battle of installing the best holiday décor in hopes of winning a title in the Mayor’s BOTB, sponsored by NEC Co-Op Energy. During the competition, businesses will decorate their establishment for a chance to win one of six titles. Committee members will coordinate business participation and the judging event being held on Thursday, December 2, 2021.

Harbor Lights Boat Parade – Wednesday Meetings at 4:00pm

The Harbor Lights Boat Parade Committee will work collaboratively to plan, execute, and promote the Illuminated Boat Parade. The Illuminated Boat Parade presented by the Port of Corpus Christi is a boat parade in the Corpus Christi Bay where boats of all types are decked out with their best Christmas decor and light up the bay with their light display. Through this committee, members will promote boater participation and coordinate the parade route for the event on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

Holiday Décor Installation – Thursday Meetings at 4:00pm

The Holiday Décor Installation Committee will work collaboratively to plan, execute, and promote the 2021 holiday décor installation throughout Downtown Corpus Christ. Every year, the Downtown Management District embarks on making Downtown Corpus Christi a premier holiday destination through programming and holiday décor. This committee will work together to plan and execute prismatic holiday décor throughout downtown that will start at the beginning of November.

Holiday ArtWalk Markets – Friday Meetings *Except last call prior to ArtWalk at 4:00pm

The Holiday ArtWalk Market Committee will work collaboratively to plan, execute, and promote the three-day Holiday ArtWalk Market happening the first weekend in December 2021. As a new feature in the downtown holiday programming, the Holiday ArtWalk Markets will transform downtown into Santa’s village for three days where visitors can get check-off their Christmas shopping list. In addition, the committee will work together to coordinate vendors and programming to take place throughout the weekend.
